Eurovision 2016 – First Artist Announced!

It feels like Eurovision 2015 only just ended yet here we are again, ready to discover our first artist of the year – well, the Eurovision year, that is. The Netherlands in recent years has announced their artists quite early, and this year is no exception. They have announced that Douwe Bob will be representing the newly successful nation at the 61st Eurovision Song Contest.

Douwe Bob’s participation was announced in the show De Wereld Draait Door, however the song he will sing will be announced by the broadcaster next year. He stated that he is excited to be given the chance to express himself and showcase his music on an international stage, of course with the hope of winning.

But who is Douwe Bob?

Douwe Bob first came to attention in 2012, where he won the TV show The Best Singer-Songwriter in the Netherlands. A year later, his first album was released, titled Born in a Storm. Another album was released in 2015, which contains a number of hit singles. The Dutch broadcaster is happy to send a top Dutch performer who can compose and write his own music, and they hope that with Douwe Bob, they can bring the contest back to the Netherlands in 2017.
